A Template for Your One-Page Strategy Plan
A practical, fill-in-the-blanks template that pulls together everything covered in this course into a single working document.
Why a Template Helps at This Stage
After covering market, roadmap, pricing, and growth separately, it can be hard to know how to combine them into something usable. A simple template removes the guesswork and gives you a structure you can fill in with what you already know.
Section 1: Customer and Problem
Write one or two sentences naming your target customer and the specific problem you solve for them. Be concrete — avoid vague language like "helps businesses grow."
Section 2: Market Snapshot
Summarize what you learned about your market: rough size, key competitors (direct and indirect), and what currently exists that customers are unhappy with.
Section 3: Roadmap Themes
List two or three roadmap themes using the now / next / later format. For each, note the one-sentence reason it connects to your strategy.
Section 4: Pricing Approach
State your current price (or planned price), whether it leans cost-plus or value-based, and one thing you plan to test about it.
Section 5: Growth Focus
Name your primary growth channel, why it fits your customer, and the metric you'll use to judge whether it's working.
Section 6: Success Signal
Write one clear sentence describing what success looks like in the next three to six months. This becomes your check against every future decision.
Practical Review Checklist
Before moving on, confirm that your one-page plan:
- Names a specific customer and problem, not a vague category
- Includes at least two real competitors, direct or indirect
- Connects every roadmap theme back to the customer or problem
- States your pricing approach and one thing you plan to test
- Names one growth channel and how you'll measure it
- Ends with a clear, checkable success signal
Conclusion
This template isn't meant to be final — it's meant to be a living first draft you can revisit as you learn more about your market, customers, and product.
